Independence Day Fireworks and Music Festival on July 3, 2014 Be prepared for an evening of good, wholesome fun this holiday weekend. The celebration kicks off on Thursday, the day before the Fourth, with a family-friendly extravaganza, sponsored by the Sebastopol Kiwanis Club. Bring blankets, your Old Glory flags, and a picnic to the Analy High School football field, where you'll find games, relay races, live music, dancing, and of course fireworks! The gates open at 5:30 p.m., and bands start playing at 6 p.m. Get started with Mr. Music and his pal Octave, the singing dog puppet. Mr. Music, aka Jim Corbett, teaches music in schools, and is a big hit with young fans. Speaking of young, the gifted singer/songwriter, Avonlea Shea will sing the Star Spangled Banner, after a flag ceremony and fife and drum performance. Poor Man's Whiskey-"Northern California's outlaw music bards"-follows, with their personal brand of old school bluegrass and southern rock fusion. Throughout the evening, enjoy all the entertainment plus a raffle. Food will also be for sale. The fireworks show is slated to begin at 9:40 p.m., well after sundown Admission to the Festival is $8 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 11, and free for kids 5 and under. The Festival is a fundraiser, and all proceeds benefit the community through the Kiwanis Club's scholarships, grants, service projects and donations.
